This is a vintage Motel 6 promotional glass piece — large octagon form with six notches, bearing the original 1962 logo in excellent condition. Made in USA. Extremely rare. One available.

Motel 6 was founded in 1962 as the affordable alternative to the era's increasingly expensive motor hotels — the price of a room was exactly $6 a night. The original logo carried here was used from 1962 until a 1987 refresh, making this piece dateable to that twenty-five year window. The octagon form with six notches is unusually large and architecturally satisfying — 5.0 × 5.0 inches, substantial in hand, with a graphic clarity that reads as well today as it did in 1962. The tagline "We'll leave the light on for ya'" — ad-libbed by radio personality and voice actor Tom Bodet, inspired by something his mother used to say — became one of the most enduring in American advertising history. This piece predates that campaign but belongs to the same story.
